One of Melbourne's more affluent and community driven councils in the city are currently seeking the assistance of an experienced civil project engineer, to assist with the implementation of Capital Works projects. With a budget to match some of the more populated municipalities in Victoria, this council has made a commitment to the design and construction of new council assets as well as the reconstruction of existing assets to keep up with maintenance demands of their civil infrastructure.
Within this role, you will be required to take a civil project from conceptual phase all the way through to completion. This requires a good understanding of the design component, including the writing of design briefs and liaison with design consultants. Most importantly, candidates will be able to successfully manage the construction through the engaging of contractors and offer technical advice relating to the designs through construction supervision.
Ideal candidates will have a good grasp of matters relating to civil works including roads, drainage, water sensitive urban design (WSUD) initiatives, car parks and roundabouts, with projects ranging up to one million dollars. Holding a civil engineering degree as well as a current Victorian drivers license is a must, and the ability to handle the detailed design of projects will be highly regarded.
