A new and outstanding opportunity to join an established and growing RTO based in multiple locations in the Melbourne CBD as Head of VET.
As Head of VET, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient organisation, management of Course Coordinators and Sessional Trainers in the VET Dept and delivery of courses at Cert III to Advanced Diploma level.
Daily duties include:
Curriculum
- Manage and monitor the implementation of VET programs with the course coordinators;
- Monitor and supervise the on-going assessment and documentation of VET;
- Implement curriculum review on a regular basis for Ozford;
- Initiate and implement necessary policies and procedures to ensure;
- Quality delivery of Ozford VET programs;
- Ensure the efficient, effective and quality delivery of Ozford programs.
Student Management
- To ensure student level of satisfaction is at 90% or more;
- To ensure student academic performance is maximised; i.e. average graduation rate to be 95% or more
- Ensure prompt attention and action taken to student complaints;
- Develop and implement student discipline strategies;
- Implement strategies to motivate students learning and attendance;
- Student academic counselling and advice are provided on a regular and informative basis;
- Prepare, implement and review the effectiveness of the student orientation program;
- Develop and carry out effective student course progress intervention strategies;
- Conduct, analyse and review actions carried out from student evaluation/feedback at the end of each term.
Staff Management
- Ensure high standard quality of VET training staff are recruited and maintained;
- Work efficiently and effectively with the course coordinators in managing the daily operations of various VET faculties;
- Prepare and administer induction programs for new training and administrative staff;
- Assist and advise trainers on the day-to-day delivery of the programs;
- Monitor documentation of daily training and delivery of programs;
- Ensure the trainers carried out their duties effectively and efficiently with duty of care;
- Oversee the submission of student results fortnightly and accurately by trainers;
- Produce job descriptions for VET staff members as required;
- Plan and implement professional development VET program, including regular training provided to ensure course coordinator and staff are client focused;
- Responsible for planning and implementation of adequate level of extra curriculum activities at minimum twice a term;
- Ensure staff members are participating in extra curriculum activities;
- Conduct regular staff meetings to disseminate information and discuss curricula, assessment, resources, student attendance, student satisfaction and any other relevant matters;
- Maintain a list of available emergency trainers;
- Organise replacement trainer if a trainer is absent;
- Be responsible for discipline of staff if necessary;
- Assist in managing employment related matters including termination.
Compliance
- Carry out necessary policies and procedures to meet various audit and regulatory requirements such as AQTF, ESOS and VRQA etc;
- Initiate and implement continuous improvement policies and procedures to ensure quality delivery of the VET programs.
Assessment and Training
- Manage and monitor the quality and implementation of VET programs with the course coordinators;
- Ensure the efficient, effective and quality delivery of VET programs.
- Implement training, delivery and assessment reviews on a regular basis;
- Ensure the training, delivery and assessments meet the AQTF and training packages requirements;
- Ensure that industry consultations have been conducted for each faculty and reflected in the revised Training and Assessment Strategies (TAS);
- Ensure the principles of assessment in VET have been adhered to, including the implementation of validation of assessment sessions conducted at least on a per term basis;
- Monitor and supervise the on-going assessment process and documentation of VET.
Resource Management
- Allocate resources according to the set budget;
- Ensure accurate staff payroll information are provided to the accounts department in a timely manner, before the pay day;
- Organise resources efficiently.
Daily Organisation
- Oversee and monitor the weekly timetable to ensure efficiency;
- Assist in applying for government grants;
- Register the college with relevant authorities as necessary;
- Be responsible for compliance and VRQA related matters;
- Be responsible for effective communication between, parents, students, staff and Ozford community;
- Management of examinations including timetabling exams;
- Perform any other tasks requested by the Principal or the college Executive Team.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Advanced tertiary qualifications preferably in education and Cert IV TAA.The candidate must have a minimum of 3 years management experience and 3 years solid VET academic experience.
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:Solid knowledge and experience in VET and international education services sector.
SPECIFIC KPIs TO BE ACHIEVED:
- Maintain student satisfactory level to 90% or more;
- Ensure students academic performance is maximised, ie. graduation rate of 95% or more;
- Maintain student numbers during the year and retention rate of 90% or more;
- Maintain a high standard of teaching and delivery;
- Ensure the VET budget is met;
- Ensure training deliveries and assessments meet the training package requirements;
- Ensure the VET operations meet the compliance requirements;
- Work cohesively with course coordinators to ensure staff satisfaction level of 90% or more.
