This is a great opportunity for an experienced Drill & Blast Engineer to join an industry leader.
Position Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to provide and maintain designs, schedules, and statistics for the drill and blast operations on site. The role is responsible for the development and implementation of blasting improvement programs, the establishment of effective standards to manage drill and blast activities and leading teams of drill and blast personnel.
This will deliver significant savings to the total cost of production by actioning and embedding high gain improvements to work practices in the provision of drill and blast (D&B) services.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities include but will not be limited to:
- Prepare drill & blast designs & schedules
- Identify and execute strategies to reduce D&B costs & increase dragline productivity
- Foster a safety culture
- Mentor group of inexperienced Mine D&B Engineers
- Liaising with & engaging consultants & contractors as required
Position Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in Mine or Civil Engineering
- Extensive experience in Drill & Blast
- Open cut mining blasting techniques and practices (coal experience is preferred)
- Exposure to continuous improvement project
- Comprehensive understanding of mine operational statutory requirements
- Project management
- Budgetary experience
