Natural Resources Officer
Our client a local council located in Sudney's western suburbs, currently has a part- time 3 month contract opportunity (with the possibility of an extension to 6 months).
This vacancy offers a suitably qualified ecologist the opportunity to work for 2 days per week as a Natural Resources Officer
This role will see the successful applicant undertaking the following responsibilities;
The provision of advice generally to internal and external stakeholders regarding the interpretation of ecologically related legislation, guidelines, planning instruments and policies
The provision of advice regarding pre Development Application proposals on a weekly basis & attend weekly meetings
The assessment of ecologically related material and reports that have been submitted to Council in support of development and rezoning applications upon request (e.g. Statements of Environmental Effects, Flora and Fauna Reports and Vegetation Management Plans) and providing advice regarding their adequacy
Liaising with ecological consultants regarding proposals, including attending meetings when required
Supporting the Environment and Sustainability Team program as required
Adhere to Council's Corporate Values, OHS&R accountabilities and EEO responsibilities
Applicants short-listed for this vacancy will be able to demonstrate some or all of the following attributes;
Demonstrated experience in an ecological capacity
Provision of ecological advice in a similar capacity
Working within a team environment
Working with internal and external stakeholders and consultants.
Use of PC based word processing, data base and spreadsheet software packages
Familiarity with and understanding of relevant NSW legislation
Understanding of ecological assessment processes
Essential criteria for applicants are the possession of Tertiary Qualifications in Ecology or equivalent and a Class C drivers licence
