Consideration for the following position will only be given to the applicant if they are an Australian citizen or have a Working visa to work in Australia. We will not assist people to obtain visas or sponsor people to enter Australia.

This position is for 6 months or longer in 2010 school year.

This position is for a home tutor to assist one child in year 5 attending school through Alice Springs School of the Air (ASSOA). Hodgson River cattle station is located in the Lower Roper river area in the Top End, 300km from Katherine or 600km from Darwin in the Northern Territory. (2500km away from Melbourne or Sydney)

This is a great job for a retired teacher, gap student having 12 months from uni or simply a person who wants to work with children.

A teacher from ASSOA will send out the required work to be done and you would help the child to understand and go through the work then sending it back to school when completed. A computer with internet access is available for school and your use after school hours.

We are offering ????? ????? wages of $570 gross with all food and lodging provided free. Superannuation and annual leave are paid as per standard awards. To compare this wage (including the non cash benefits)to other industries it is equivalent to receiving approximately $45000 per annum.

Single separate accommodation is supplied which has one bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and laundry. You can choose to prepare your own meals in your quarters to consume there or eat with our family from meals I have prepared.

We are a cattle station, therefore most meals will include meat, thus people who eat with us are required to eat meat.

We have own solar generated 24 hour power supply.

Applicants will need to submit a resume with atleast 2 contactable references.

You will also need a police clearance check to permit you to work with children, applicants will not be considered unless you have this clearance.

The applicant would need to be prepared to start on the 2nd of February 2010 (Actually be at Hodgson River), pick up is available from a bus stop at Hi Way Inn, Daly Waters. You also need to be prepared to stay for at least 2 terms of the start of the school year. A trial period does exist.

You need to be able to work unsupervised and be open to query and comments explaining  the childs progress, behaviour or any issues you may have. This is particulary important to help maintain a positive learning environment, with good open communication.

Outside of school work hours you are able to assist with some cattle work on a paid basis if you wish and at our discretion, this won't be all the time but at odd occasions if you want.

You need to like being in an isolated area and enjoy your own company with ways to entertain yourself when not occupied with school type work. Reading, emails, craft.

The scenery around the homestead is particulary beautiful with a large river system and plenty of opportunity for bushwalking and bird watching.

We are a young family operated business, we also employ one other young person to assist with cattlework.
