ENVIRONMENTAL COORDINATOR

Vista Gold Australia Pty Ltd a group member of Vista Gold Corporation a USA public listed company requires an experienced Environmental Coordinator for its Mt Todd Northern Territory Gold Mining Project.

Mt Todd is located approx 60 kms north of Katherine in the Northern Territory.

This is a full time position and offers an attractive salary package commensurate with skills and experience.  Relocation costs will be considered for the right applicant. 

As part of the role the successful applicant will be responsible for completion and management of the following key responsibilities;

• Obtaining project environmental approvals, including liaison with consultants and coordinating site visits
• Undertaking site assessments and clearances for mining and exploration activities
• Selection and management of contractors and consultants  for collection of  baseline environmental data and preparation of  permitting documents
• Maintain and implement  Environmental Management Systems  Undertake a range of site related activities such as monitoring, sampling, data analysis and data reporting
• Preparation of  the annual Mine Management Plan, including site water management plans, and amendments
• Participate in contacts and communications with stakeholders including the NT government and other agencies
• Undertaking site inductions and training
• Mentoring of  site-based environmental personnel
• Maintaining Compliance Register.    

We envisage the successful applicant will have the following qualifications; 

• A tertiary degree in environmental management, biological sciences or related field
• Experience in implementing environmental management programs
• Thorough understanding of relevant environmental legislation
• At least 5 years previous environmental experience within the mining industry
