PRINCIPAL TUNNELLING ENGINEER

An opportunity now exists for a Principal Tunnelling Engineer to join GHD's Tunnellling and Underground Spaces Group based in the Melbourne CBD.
This key senior role will provide technical leadership and drive further business development through the identification and delivery of major projects for existing and future clients. Strong relationship building, project management and team leadership skills will be essential to your success in the role.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Tunnel engineering design, including TBM tunnels in hard rock and soft ground conditions
- Lead tunnel projects and coordinate other engineering disciplines including structural, hydraulic, and mechanical engineers
- Oversee the production of design deliverables including drawings, specifications and reports
- Involvement in geotechnical and tunnel engineering risk assessments
- Manage and support junior members of the group
- Identify new business opportunities
The successful candidate will hold tertiary qualifications in civil or geotechnical engineering with a minimum of 10 years industry experience. Ideally the candidate will have detailed experience in structural design and a sound working knowledge of soil and rock geotechnics, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
