Senior Strategic Planner

A challenging position has arisen at Council within the western suburbs of metropolitan Melbourne for an experienced Strategic Planner to assist in the development of Councils land use and development strategies and polices, action plans and guidelines.
Reporting to Coordinator Strategic Planning, your role as Senior Strategic Planner will encompass the preparation, production and delivery of a range of products and services including:
- Activity Centre Structure Plans
- Place Management projects
- Reviewing and updating Councils Planning Scheme
- Responding to State Government initiatives
- Providing professional advice in relation to land use and development to Councillors, the community and Councils Statutory Planning Unit in relation to planning permit applications
To be considered for this role you will hold a degree in Town Planning, Urban Studies or similar, and have demonstrable expertise/experience in the following:
- Sound knowledge, understanding and application of all legislation and regulations relevant to strategic planning in Victoria
- Some previous experience preparing, reviewing and implementing strategic plans and policies within a local government setting
- Strong organisation and time management skills
- Effective communication and relationship management skills
- High level of initiative and self-motivation with the drive and ability to work autonomously
