A stones throw from Melbournes CBD, Council at one of Melbourne's most sought-after bayside municipalities seeks an enthusiastic Planner to assist with a growing portfolio or strategic planning work.  Reporting to Coordinator Strategic Planning, your role as Senior Strategic Planner will encompass:

• Identification of strategic planning issues
• Preparing ????? ????? and community consultation strategies
• Reviewing and updating Councils Planning Scheme
• Responding to State Government initiatives
• Providing strategic planning advice to Councillors, the community and Councils Statutory Planning Unit in relation to planning permit applications
• Establishing and maintaining appropriate and productive networks and relationships with the community, industry groups and government bodies
• Conducting research and analysis for strategic planning projects spanning demographics, economic development, environmental and cultural heritage, open space and recreation, social, transport and structure planning

To be considered for this role you will hold a degree in Town Planning, Urban Studies or similar, and have demonstrable expertise/experience in the following:

• Sound knowledge, understanding and application of all legislation and regulations relevant to strategic planning in Victoria
• Significant experience working in a similar strategic planning capacity in Victoria
• Strong analytical, investigative and problem solving skills including the ability to assess and interpret various options and develop alternative solutions in an environment of competing demands
• Ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with a wide variety of stakeholder groups, with a genuine empathy to different perspectives and proven ability to gain the understanding and cooperation of others
• Self-motivated and resourceful with the ability to effectively manage your own time and workload
