Council within one of Melbournes most lively and thriving inner city municipalities is seeking to appoint an experienced Town Planner on a contract basis to assist with heavy workload.
Joining a busy team of dedicated planning professions, as principal level Planner working at band 7 level, your workload will comprise the assessment of a variety of developments, dealing predominantly with the more complex or contentious applications received by Council, as well as supporting the coordinators in the mentoring ????? ????? of more junior planners within the team. In addition, you will be responsible for representing Council at panel hearing, tribunal and a range of forums, involving liaison with various government agencies, professional bodies, community groups, consultants, developers and the general public.
To be considered for this challenging and diverse role you will demonstrate the following :
- Recognised tertiary qualification in Town or Regional Planning or similar
- Detailed knowledge of the Planning and Environment Act, Subdivision Act, Planning Schemes and other associated and relevant legislation
- Significant experience in applying land use concepts and in dealing with statutory processes and planning principles
- Experience representing Council at VCAT
- Strongly developed communication, mediation and negotiation skills, including highly developed written skills and the ability to integrate information and produce clear, concise reports to deadlines
- An awareness of current trends impacting on town planning
- Ability to work well under pressure and effectively manage completing demands
- Proactive approach to problem solving and strong work ethic
