Building Regulations Consultant

    Multidisciplinary consultancy seeks motivated BCA & Building Regulations Consultant to provide clients with specialist Building Regulations and BCA consulting services, including but not limited to building design assessment, fire safety upgrade, building audits and general building consulting.
     
    The company has an immediate portfolio of projects incorporating services as nominated above for key clients involved in public housing, education and rail to name a few. Whilst the company will continue to service existing clients to the level of satisfaction they currently enjoy, a strong desire exists for further expansion into the BCA and building Regulations industry by establishing relationships and promoting services to new clients.
     
    This position would offer excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Council Building Surveyor or Accredited Certifier / PCA with a minimum of 3 years experience and looking to enter an expanding company as a specialist BCA & Building Regulations consultant.

    Established in 1999 the Group has secured much of its revenue by providing professional services to Housing NSW. A few years ago, an opportunity was presented in the field of BCA & Building Regulations consultancy; consequently, a new company was formed within the group to provide this specialist service.
     
    Within a short time, the BCA & Building Regulations consultancy services have been well received by existing and new clients, thus creating rapid growth of the company. Significant additional opportunity has presented itself and now allows the company to increase its’ staff and experience to service such opportunity.
     
    Whilst an existing portfolio of projects is available for the successful candidate, the company vision is to continue its growth to include BCA & Building Regulations services for an extensive client base and including all building types. It is important that the successful candidate be willing to adapt and grow with the company over the long term as opportunity presents itself.

    The Position:
     
    Reporting to the Building Compliance Manager, your duties will include:
    • Assessment of building design and subsequent preparation of a BCA Compliance Report;
    • Carry out inspections of building work under construction;
    • Carry out BCA Consultancy for a large range of Crown residential building projects;
    • Audit of existing buildings, identifying defects, outlining recommendations for upgrade;
    • General BCA & Building Regulations compliance.

    To be successful you will need to: 
    • Hold a tertiary qualification in Building Surveying (accreditation is not essential but advantageous)
    • Have accomplished report-writing skills
    • A current driver’s license
    • Have well developed communication skills
    • Exhibit strong organisation skills proven in local government or private consulting settings
    • Demonstrated competence and accuracy in building surveying and interpretation of BCA, regulations, relevant codes and Australian Standards
    • Have a minimum of 3 years experience working with the BCA & Building Regulations, particularly with residential properties; commercial experience would be desirable
    • prior experience of BCA & Building Regulations consulting would be highly desirable but is not essential 
    Remuneration:
     
    The remuneration package is negotiable depending on experience, qualifications and suitability. A mutually beneficial package shall be negotiated with the successful applicant.
