Our client, a Local Government in the Eastern suburbs is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to assist with Council’s Asset Management strategy.
An exceptional opportunity exists for a highly motivated and skilled Civil Engineer to join the professional and dedicated Infrastructure Assets team of this Inner-City suburban Council.
You will be responsible for assisting in the preparation, implementation and management of Asset Management Policies and Procedures, Plans and Systems, including data collection and management, and the development of capital works programs.
The primary objective of this position is to provide direction and assistance in the preparation, implementation, and updating of asset category based asset management plans - including data collection and data management. The incumbent is also required to support the day to day administration of the corporate asset management system and assist in the development of five year capital works programs for engineering assets.
This role will require you to need a broad understanding of municipal infrastructure functions and performance, understanding of life-cycle asset management principles and techniques, good understanding of asset management principles and systems, good understanding of legislation and regulations that impact on asset management and infrastructure planning, knowledge of and skill in the use of computer based software packages relevant to municipal engineering, public works and asset management, ability to perform network analysis of infrastructure assets - including, for example, the use of software such as XPSWMM for stormwater drainage and the SMEC Pavement Management System for roads.
In this role, you will be required to:
· Assist in the implementation of Council’s Asset Management Strategy
· Identifying improvements, developing and implementing Asset Management Plans
· Data management and updating Corporate Asset Management System (Confirm)
· Ensure the data in Asset Management Systems is accurate, current and auditable
· Producing asset reports from Asset Management Systems for various departments
· Assist in identifying projects for consideration in future capital works programs e.g. drains, roads, carparks, etc.
· Assist in the development of works programs for Council’s operational areas
· Prepare annual asset valuation and depreciation reports for various engineering asset categories
· Assist with the completion of Annual Report and survey response requirements
· Any other duties as directed consistent with the general requirements of the position
To be successful for this role, you must have:
· Tertiary qualification (Bachelor Degree) in Civil Engineering
· Experience in design and construction of municipal projects
· Ability in the planning and development of roads and drainage (subdivision) projects
· Knowledge of preparation and implementation of asset management plans and projects
· Experience in support and administration of asset management related systems
· Knowledge of and ability to identify and interpret relevant plans, standards and legislation
· Ability to talk to all levels of staff and public
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
