Youth Work - with a Difference!
The Shire of Halls Creek is seeking Youth Workers to work in 3 small remote Aboriginal Communities.
Although the positions (and the remoteness) are challenging, these jobs offer unique opportunities to make a real difference in “real” communities constituted by real relationships in which everyone knows each other and they talk to each other. The density of social connection produces a high level of what social planners call “social capital”.
This not only makes a community development approach to youth work inevitable, but it also creates a wider kind of accountability for the youth workers.
In addition to salary and superannuation and the usual other benefits, accommodation and a motor vehicle will also be provided.
