Barwon Health – The Geelong Hospital is seeking a suitably qualified Medical Practitioner for this post. Applicants who have substantial post graduate experience and who are eligible for full general registration with the Medical Practitioners Board of Victoria, are invited to apply.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the AMA HMO Certified Agreement 2002 (or any subsequent agreement), classification range PN20.

The position is of one year’s duration commencing 1/2/10 to 31/01/11 and offers a broad experience in general surgery. The position offers experience in gastrointestinal endoscopy, colorectal (including laparoscopic) and endocrine surgery. The University Department of Surgery has research interests in safety and quality, surgical audit, electronic health and cancer epidemiology. It is ideally suited to someone planning a general surgical career in a rural or regional centre. The position would also suit someone planning to become a Colorectal Surgeon, as there is a busy colorectal practice with much laparoscopic colorectal surgery. The candidate should already have passed the FRACS examination (or equivalent) and have some experience in gastroscopy and colonoscopy. Candidates planning to sit the FRACS in 2010 may also be considered.

The Geelong Hospital is a 406-bed general medical & surgical teaching hospital affiliated with The University of Melbourne with obstetric, paediatric and psychiatric beds. There are Professorial Departments of Medicine, Surgery & Psychiatry. The Hospital positions are accredited for basic & many advanced training programs.
