Our client is seeking a suitably experience Freight and Materials Manager. The auccessful applicant will report directly to the Operations Manager and supervise the work of three drivers and three drivers aids. Areas of responsability include: - Transport and delivery of finished products
- Inventory
- Purchasing
- Materials management
- Chain of responsibility
The successful applicant will be someone ready and willing to adapt to a new environment and team, with a focus on being receptive to the culture of the company
Duties will include:
Freight - Safe operation of transport process
- Transport schedule to satisfy customers and minimise costs
- Manage driver fatigue issues
- Truck service and maintenance
- Communication to customers on IFOT/Short deliveries/Redeliveries etc.
- Manage risk of theft and fraud
- Provide proof of delivery
- Minimise costs
Inventory - Manage raw material to target levels
- Create and operate documented systems for:
- Stock management
- Supplier scheduling and purchasing
Purchasing - Negotiate supply contracts
- Maimise utilization of national deals
- Selection, monitoring ????? ????? on supply performance
- Supplier capacity planning
- Supplier development
Materials management - Pull system in plant
- FIFO system for plant
- 5S processes for materials in plant and warehouse
