Spatial Analyst, BOCSAR
BUREAU OF CRIME STATISTICS & RESEARCH SPATIAL ANALYST - AG09/612 Departmental Professional Officer Grade III Sydney CBD, Permanent Full time Salary range: $80,608 - $88,058 Total Remuneration package valued up to: $97,172 The NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research investigates patterns and trends in crime and the criminal justice system. The Spatial Analyst is responsible for: - Developing, updating, improving and managing the Bureau's spatial database of recorded criminal incidents. - Analysing, interpreting and preparing ????? ????? maps on spatial characteristics of crime Selection Criteria: - Degree in GIS, geography, environmental science, planning, computer science or related field;
- Extensive experience in computerised mapping using Geographic Information Systems such as MapInfo or ArcGIS;
- Experience in conducting high-level spatial analyses and ability to apply this knowledge to the field of crime mapping;
- Ability to write technical and research reports to a standard suitable for publication;
- Excellent technical, analytical and problem solving skills with excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy;
- High-level liaison skills and oral communication skills;
- Experience in the use of data management software, such as SAS, SPSS or EXCEL and the ability to work with large datasets.
