Registered Nurse – Full Time Fixed Term to June 2012


The St Vincent's Community Health Service Homeless Health Team provide essential medical, nursing and allied health support to the local homeless community. Services are provided across a range of settings including St Vincent's Hospital, Homeless Support agencies and through street outreach.

We are currently seeking a self-motivated Registered Nurse to join our Community Outreach Medical Emergency Team (COMET), providing assessment and care to clients suffering ????? ?????-acute medical problems. This role also incorporates supporting those clients with chronic health issues, health promotion and a facilitating access to appropriate health services for the homeless population.

Essential Criteria:

  • NSW Nurses Registration List A with three years post registration experience.
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence.
  • Demonstrated high level clinical nursing and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated interest in and understanding of issues relating to homelessness.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work with people from diverse backgrounds including culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work with a range of key stakeholders at the community level.
  • Computer literate in Windows environment.
  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Mission and Values of the Sisters of Charity and St Vincent's Health Australia.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in working with homeless services or community health services.
  • Cannulation / IV therapy skills.
  • Wound management skills.
  • Understanding of Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol issues and services.
