OH&S Officer - 3 month Contract

This council is a modern and vibrant municipality based in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Part of the community service is to promote healthy ageing and empower people growing older as valued and respected members of their community and as such the team are looking for an experienced and emphatic OH&S officer to join the team in Home and Community Care.

Role:

To take responsibility for the development, implementation and coordination of Occupational Health and Safety practices and procedures in the Home and Community Care Department (HACC) and to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all staff in the Home and Community Care Department.

You:

  • Will have the ability to research, identify and analyse problems using relevant procedures, practices and guidelines
  • Will resolve OH&S issues relating to HACC, using professional and technical knowledge. This may include improving and or developing methods and techniques based on previous experience
  • Will have OH&S qualifications and significant experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills involving effective communication both orally and in writing with the ability to negotiate, influence and gain co operation of all involved parties
  • Will have the ability to use initiative and drive projects that support ongoing safe work practices for all staff in HACC
  • Have a current Victorian driver's license
  • Will have a well developed statistical, analytical, administrative and computer skills
  • Will have experience in monitoring/managing large teams that work independently in the filed
  • Will have an awareness and support of the philosophies of healthy ageing, promotion of independence and community support
