Project Engineer - Civil Engineer - Local Government

There is an immediate opportunity for an experienced Civil Project Engineer to join a Local Government team in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. This City Council is situated within a high growth area and has projects lasting well into 2010 - 2011.
Key Responsibilities:
- Look after the operational performance and delivery of civil and capital works projects for their timely implementation.
- Implement and supervise construction standards as set out under current construction codes and standards.
- Manage each of the project stages including project design, tendering, construction and post construction through to handover.
- Conduct site inspections and liaise with contractors, design consultancies, community groups and external stakeholders.
- Perform contract administration tasks as required.
As the ideal candidate, you will have
• Completed a Bachelor of Civil Engineering
• Circa 3 years + experience working as a Project Engineer or Project Management on civil and/or municipal works.
• Extensive experience within a Local Government is highly advantageous
• Proven ability to mediate across multi-functional or multi-discipline teams in order to achieve agreed objectives
• In-depth knowledge of project and construction management procedures relating to civil works
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills
• Very good time management ability
