WESTERN WOMEN'S DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COURT
ADVOCACY SERVICE INCORPORATED
The Western Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service Inc. (WDVCAS) is a community based non-profit organisation funded by the State Government and managed by Legal Aid NSW through the Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Program. Due to the expansion and restructure of the WDVCAS we are seeking the services of appropriately qualified women to fill the following positions:
COORDINATOR - Dubbo 30 hrs p/week
ASSISTANT COORDINATOR - Bourke and surrounding areas 18 hrs p/week
ABORIGINAL SPECIALIST WORKER * - Dubbo and surrounding areas 14 hrs p/week
ABORIGINAL SPECIALIST WORKER * - Bourke and surrounding areas 14 hrs p/week
COURT ADVOCACY WORKER - Bourke and surrounding areas 14 hrs p/week
Staff will be working outreach and will assist women seeking protection from domestic violence through the justice system at Dubbo, Wellington, Narromine, Gilgandra, Nyngan, Bourke, Brewarrina, Cobar and Warren local courts.
One of the essential criteria is a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the dynamics, complexities and legal and social welfare consequences of domestic violence.
Being a woman is a genuine occupational requirement for these positions pursuant to Section 31 of the Anti Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
* Being an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person is an occupational requirement under Section 14d of the Anti Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
