Noxious Weeds Officer - Part Time
21 Hours per Week
12 Month Contract
A fantastic opportunity exists for an enthusiastic, passionate and motivated person to assist in the operation of a Noxious Weed Control program across three Local Government Areas.
The key role of this position is to provide the community with information and advice in relation to the management of noxious weeds on private land and to help control the spread of weeds across private property and lands under the care of the City of Canterbury, Ashfield Municipal Council and the Rockdale City Council. You will also provide training and technical advice to relevant staff.
The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills and have experience in implementing noxious week control programs and extensive knowledge of noxious weed legislation.
Essential:
- Certificate in bushland regeneration, weed control, natural resource management or other related discipline and / or equivalent experience.
- Experience in developing management strategies to address noxious / environmental weeds.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing noxious weed control within an urban context.
- Knowledge of relevant noxious weeds legislation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to negotiate and liaise withcommunity residents, land managers and stakeholders.
- Technical knowledge of noxious weed control methods.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including organisation and time management
- Ability to operate independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated competency in application of standard office software and understanding of GIS systems.
- Current Drivers Licence
Desirable:
- Skills in budget development and monitoring
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing environmental education programs
Salary is $ 33.98 per hour.
