09-14993/(??) ???? ????/1The United Nations is an equal opportunity employerThe United Nations Information Centre in Canberra (UNIC) is looking for a dynamic, highly motivated, well-organised person to fi ll a position as: KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT ASSISTANTReporting to the Director of the Centre, the successful applicant will support the Centres communications and information activities in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacifi c. Specifi cally, this will include:Providing public with information on UN and specialized agencies; responding to queries on and requests on the UN and its Agencies and conducting briefi ngs on related subjects to individuals and groups.Maintaining the UNIC website, including editing content for posting, maintaining related IT equipment and providing technical support for the Centres electronic resources and operations.Identifying and acquiring ????? ????? materials that meet the information needs of the UNIC and its clientele and organizing those documents, publications, press releases in the Centres reference collection. Developing and maintaining relevant databases, keeping data accurate and current and preparing ????? ????? as needed.Applicants must have several years experience working in information sciences, communications or related work, excellent communication skills and strong technical web skills. Fluency in oral and written English is required, whilst knowledge of another language is an advantage. A keen understanding of international issues and knowledge of the role of the United Nations are highly desirable.
