We are currently seeking a Technical Expert to join Government Gateway Operations within the Network Services division. 
 
In this role, you will ensure the security and availability of internal network and server platforms.  The Technical Expert role is responsible for supporting the numerous gateway platforms in a Level 3 capacity.  This includes performing change management during after hours change windows, capacity management, problem management and incident management.   The role requires analysis and resolution of customer and platform incidents and their impact upon shared platforms and products.  Extensive troubleshooting is required, as well as excellent proactive problem management, designed to eliminate problems before they impact the customer. The candidate will also be required to participate in knowledge transfers and mentoring to team members for complex issues and platform rollouts.
 
Key Accountabilities:
  • Ensure compliance to Change Management Guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with Security Guidelines
  • Develop and maintain both technical and process procedures for the group
  • Mentor staff on new procedures
  • Develop efficiency improvements into tasks
  • Employ high levels of reactive and proactive problem management into your day to day activities
  • Assist customers, partners and business units with troubleshooting incidents.
  • Maintain and foster relationships between various Telstra groups, including Networks Services, Network Engineering and ITS.
  • Educate other groups on how to troubleshoot technologies supported by GGO
  • Work closely with peers and workgroups within Hosting and Gateway Operations
  • Manage multiple projects to specific timeframes, ensuring platforms and products are integrated into the group correctly and efficiently
  • Follow company policies and procedures
  • Ensure that co-workers are treated respectfully and without any form of discrimination, harassment or victimization
  •  Take all reasonable care to ensure that actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself and others in the workplace
  • Other duties as reasonably directed
 
Essential
  • Expert knowledge in Cisco, Juniper, Nortel, F5 Networking Technologies
  • Solid knowledge of Server Technologies
  • Demonstrated networking troubleshooting expertise
  • Excellent customer focus
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects
  • Proactive work ethic
  • Track record of mentoring staff
  • Available to work after hours as required
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Government SECRET clearance
  • Customs HIGHLY PROTECTED clearance
Desirable
  • Cisco Networking and Security Certifications (CCNA, CCNP etc)
  • Juniper Security Certifications
  • ITIL Foundation Certificate
