Programmers/Data Analysts – VBA and SAS/Hyperion

With limited supervision, produce and automate reports containing management information for DEEWR payments and services. Your skills will assist the team to correctly extract, analyse, collate and report on payments and services quickly and effectively. You may play a role utilising your skills in one or more of the following areas:
 
  • Using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) to produce and automate reports in the Microsoft Office suite of products which contain management information about Income Support and student payments administered by DEEWR.
  • Importing data to, and manipulating data in, Microsoft Excel and/or Microsoft Access, including advanced functions such as complex charting and pivot tables and automation of tasks (for example using Macros or VBA).
  • Interpreting requests for data and compiling reports using Hyperion or SAS (Knowledge of Centrelink’s data warehouse or a detailed understanding of Centrelink’s business processes would be highly regarded.) 
  • Accessing data collections using applications such as SuperSTAR, COGNOS, Hyperion and/or SAS.
  • Examining data, undertaking basic analysis and drawing accurate conclusions. Liaising with program areas to ensure they have appropriate involvement in developing commentary on data related to their areas of expertise.
  • Passing on your expertise through clear documentation of tasks and programs and provision of on-the-job training, support and assistance to your colleagues.

From time to time, Management Information is required urgently, requiring ????? ????? working hours. Staff who could be asked to respond to such requests may be provided with off-site access to enable work to be undertaken from home.
