DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT, CLIMATE CHANGE AND WATER NSW RangerRanger Grade 1/2, Riverina, Tumut, Temporary Full-TimeVacancy Ref: DECC09-243Total remuneration package to $97,908 p.a. including salary $49,096p.a. to $75,833p.a. Salary package includes base salary, an additional 17% loading for working weekends and public holidays, annual leave loading and employer contributions to superannuation scheme. Progression criteria apply to movement within the salary scale.Manage project implementation in natural, Aboriginal and cultural heritage and recreational management. This includes wildlife management, environmental assessments, park management planning, bushfire management, weed and feral animal control, visitor management, regulatory enforcement and implementing facility improvements and maintenance.Selection Criteria:A degree or equivalent relevant to the field operations of the Department Ability to work with the Department's statutory obligations as they apply to conservation of natural, Aboriginal and cultural heritage and resources and ability to undertake environmental assessment Superior communication skills both verbal and written, negotiation, community relations and liaison skills.Current Driver's Licence and ability to operate four-wheel-drive vehicles. Demonstrated organisational and project management skills and ability to work as part of a multi-function team.Willingness to fly in light aircraft and preparedness and ability to be involved in incident management duties including fire fighting. Capacity and willingness to exercise delegated authority for law enforcement. Sound knowledge of, and capacity to implement Ethnic Affairs Priorities Statement (EAPS) and capacity to implement occupational health and safety (OH&S) policy and practices.Job Notes: This is a temporary position upto the 30/06/2010. Progression through the scale is dependent upon achievement of identified competencies. The position of Ranger, including fire fighting related activities, is very physically demanding, requiring ????? ????? activity, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling loads, bending, climbing, and driving a variety of vehicles. Rangers must meet the requirements of a specific medical with a clearance to undertake the fitness test to a moderate level, and task based physical assessment in order to undertake this position. The Position Holder will need to obtain certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking fire fighting/incident control duties.
