As part of a team in the social, economic or population statistics areas at the ABS you will be in the front line of measuring ????? ????? of our community and providing information to understand and support decision making at all levels of Australian society.
 
ABS statistics programs collect and analyse information to report on the people, families, communities and other groups that make up Australian society and on the economic wellbeing of the nation and its people. Many positions are available in areas that measure aspects of social and economic wellbeing to inform policy in areas such as health, housing, income, education, Indigenous affairs, families, childhood development and ageing.
 
We are looking for people with excellent communication skills who thrive in a team environment. Positions are available to suit both people with strong conceptual skills and those skilled in people and project management, with duties ranging from planning, designing and implementing national surveys to detailed analysis of data and reporting to the nation. A degree is desirable, and ABS seeks recruits for these positions from a wide range of fields such as population studies, economics, sociology, psychology, statistics, mathematics, communications etc.
 
The ABS is a flexible, family friendly organisation which provides a strong program of in-house statistical, managerial and technical training, with career opportunities across social, economic, environmental, information management and methodological aspects of national statistics. ABS works closely with governments and communities around Australia and with other national and international statistical organisations. 
 
As a Statutory Authority, the ABS provides objective information to governments and the community. At the ABS, you have the opportunity to provide the evidence for the development and evaluation of effective policy.
