The overall purpose of this position is to develop and deliver a range of English language courses to fee paying overseas students within Deakin University English Language Institute (DUELI).

 

Principal Accountabilities:

• To deliver a high level English language teaching program at DUELI in order to ensure that students have the opportunity to develop their English language proficiency.
• Work as part of a team in the development and review of curricula that support the English language programs at DUELI.
• Demonstrate independent decision making as well as collaborative decision making within the team environment.

Typical Duties:

• Teaching a range of English language courses up to 25 contact hours per week.
• Preparation of appropriate course materials for lessons delivered.
• Supplementing existing teaching curriculum and materials within the DUELI approved frameworks.
• Conducting end of intake student course evaluations.
• Conducting assessments of students’ work using agreed procedures.
• Maintaining daily accurate student attendance records.
• Participating in DUELI staff meetings as arranged by the Director of Studies/Director of DUELI.
• Assisting with the shorts study tours as required.
• Guiding students on the effective use of the Independent Learning Centre (ILC).
• Consulting with students about their work outside of class time.
• Assisting with the DUELI orientation program as required.
