Principle technical authority
Based in Brisbane with occasional travel the Principal Engineer-E&I is the corporate technical authority for all instrumentation and electrical engineering ????? ?????. The position will provide hands-on E&I engineering ????? ????? advice during ????? ????? feasibility phases of identified opportunities, and will play a key role during ????? ????? and implementation phases of approved opportunities. The position acts as the technical focal point for the companys installed Distributed Controls Systems, ESD systems, Fire and Gas Systems and other programmable controls systems.
Accountabilities:
Set appropriate engineering ????? ????? all aspects of E&I engineering ????? ?????
Technical authority for the companys installed Distributed Controls Systems, ESD systems,
Review, monitor and audit systems performance data, hardware maintenance records and software management processes for the companys installed Distributed Controls Systems, ESD systems, Fire and Gas Systems and other programmable controls systems
Liaise with systems users to identify improvements, and where they can be demonstrated to add value, and drive the implementation process
Develop and implement appropriate processes to manage and document changes to programmable electronic systems, in accordance with applicable standards and industry best practice
Provide technical advice to the companys projects, maintenance and reliability groups where changes to existing control systems are contemplated, including the integration of new equipment or systems, or the expansion of existing equipment or systems
Manage the contractual relationship between the company and systems providers for the provision of ongoing service requirements, systems modifications and upgrades
Maintain an up to date awareness of technology developments in programmable control systems and associated communications protocols
Ensure that all activities are progressed in accordance with the OSDES framework.
Manage specific projects as assigned including development of project schedules, budgets and execution plans
Manage the activities of external engineering ????? ????? as required
Provide input to Department and Asset monthly, quarterly and annual reports
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Appropriate engineering ????? ????? equivalent
Minimum of 15 years experience of programmable control systems and their application in the upstream Oil and Gas industry. Experience in systems specification, software management and communications protocols and as an end user within an operating environment, including a minimum of five years in a senior / lead role
Experience in: Programmable systems architecture and hardware, application software development, communications protocols application and utilisation
Change management, and in particular, software change control
Interfacing field instrumentation and final control elements with programmable systems
Specifying and selecting field instrumentation and final control elements
Performance assessment and testing of programmable control systems
Preparation of functional performance specifications for programmable control systems
