Our client, a leading global construction firm renowned for its success in mega infrastructure projects, has an expatriate opportunity for a Design Manager to join their firm and be involved in the design delivery of a scope of the Design & Construct USD7.9B Medical and Research Centre project in Doha, Qatar. This hospital is the most expensive hospital (per bed) in the world and has state of the art equipment and world class technologies.
Reporting to the Senior Design Manager, and from a design focussed background, you will be responsible for the design and construct project management of a scope of this hospital project comprising the laundries, kitchens and laboratories. You will be a hands-on person who can take the project from of structure including design to installation and commissioning on this fast track project. You will need the ability to lead the design team to meet tight deadlines. Extensive hospital/large commercial experience with exposure to commercial kitchens, laundries and laboratories is essential.
Your duties will include:
- Drive, lead and take ownership of the scope of works to meet tight deadlines on a fast track project;
- Involved in structure, design delivery to installation and commissioning of the laundries, kitchens and laboratories;
- Attendance and participation in the design meetings;
- Coordinating complex structures of sub consultants (structures, facades, MEP, specialist laboratory, kitchen, laundries, etc).
The key attributes for this role include:
- A relevant degree qualification in Architecture/MEP with at least 10 years experience on large commercial/hospital projects with exposure to commercial kitchens, laboratories and laundry facilities being essential;
- Previous experience in Design/Build fast track projects;
- Previous experience working for a main contractor is preferred;
- A confident strong communicator;
- A solution oriented approach is required;
- Expatriate experience in the Middle East / GCC region is desired.
