The Department of Primary Industries is seeking an experienced laboratory operations manager to be part of the Bioprotection Platform of the Biosciences Research Division.

As the Diagnostics Operations Manager – Microbiology, you will be primarily responsible for the coordination of the Veterinary Diagnostic Service operations which has laboratories both within the Microbiology and Veterinary Pathology Subplatforms. This will involve managing the maintenance of the laboratories, using best practices and ensuring that the operations are profitable. You will also ensure service excellence with a focus on understanding stakeholder issues.

To be successful you must have tertiary qualifications in medical laboratory science or equivalent in addition to experience as a senior scientist/manager in a laboratory, preferably pathology. Highly developed communication skills, excellent organisational skills and a drive to deliver exceptional service are essential to this role. You should also possess knowledge of compliance requirements, the ability to manage staff and a high level of initiative.
