Site Engineer
Our client is a privately owned Australian company delivering civil infrastructure projects. A Graduate Civil Engineer with a minimum two years AUSTRALIAN work experience and detailed local market knowledge is required for a Site Engineer Role to perform a technical, organisational and supervisory role on construction projects, including civil, road, rail, water and transport infrastructure projects.
Working as part of the site management team, with shared responsibility for site security, health and safety, and the organisation and supervision of material and human resources, you will act as the main technical adviser on a construction site for subcontractors, trades people and operatives.
Generally, you will perform the following tasks:
- setting out (marking the position of structures) and levelling the site;
- surveying the site;
- checking drawings and quantities and ensuring that the calculations are accurate for the work;
- overseeing the selection and requisition of materials and plant for use in the construction;
- agreeing a price for materials, and making cost-effective solutions and proposals for the intended project;
- planning the work and efficiently organising the plant and site facilities in order to meet agreed deadlines;
- liaising with any consultants, sub-contractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project;
- liaising with clients and their representatives (architects, engineers and surveyors), including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of progress;
- day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labour force and monitoring the work of any subcontractors;
- writing detailed reports;
- overseeing quality control and safety matters on the site, and ensuring that regulations are adhered to;
- resolving any unexpected technical difficulties, and other problems that may arise.
Candidates will need to show evidence of the following:
- effective communication skills, with the ability to liaise synergestically with a range of other professionals, e.g. construction managers, quantity surveyors, subcontractors, architects, designers, other engineers, etc.;
- physical fitness;
- organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure;
- a hard-working, professional attitude;
- strong teamworking skills;
- analytical, numeracy and logic skills;
- the ability to write coherent reports;
- a willingness to learn and a commitment to tenure.
You will have a
minimum of two years work experience, with
Construction and Civil hands-on & field work experience sought over Consulting or Design experience. You must be an
Australian Resident and will have completed a
Civil Engineering Degree that is fully recognised by Engineers Australia.

Remuneration for this role is negotiable based on the experience you bring to the role and the firm, however a
salary around $65k plus super could be used as an indicative guide.
