Assistant Purchasing Manager

    You will be proactive and possess the ability to think and work autonomously in this fast paced environment and be part of a business that has adapted to recent market conditions and is experiencing boom time demand. 

    This business is a wholesaler of a vast range of high quality products to a cross section of industries within the construction/engineering, manufacturing, mining and petro-chemical sectors. A privately owned business, they are one of Australia's largest suppliers and pride themselves upon their culture and people and have multiple facilities nationwide and in New Zealand. This role will be based in Sydney's inner suburbs and require intermittent international travel to suppliers. 

    You will be commercially aware and have the ability to manage multiple projects. You will also have the flexibility to deal with market changes and demands. You will have excellent communications skills, negotiating with overseas suppliers and monitoring ????? ????? on supply, production planning and quality. Internally, you will regularly have contact with warehousing, marketing, QA and finance departments to ensure inventory levels are maintained and accurate to ensure supply is readily available to end users. 

    Ideally you will have a minimum of five years commercial experience within purchasing and inventory management, have excellent Excel and inventory management systems experience. It is imperative you are degree qualified in a relevant discipline and it would be desirable if you have APICS qualifications. You will be able to demonstrate a solid working history, be analytical and have strong problem solving skills.
