Bestchance

bestchance is an independent, not-for-profit, community organisation conveniently located in Glen Waverley. Providing universal, specialist, educational and welfare services, bestchance has adopted an innovative and holistic approach to assisting young children and families by integrating its suite of community services into the one complex.

The bestchance model has continued to evolve over the years in response to the ever changing needs within the community. A purpose built, fully integrated state-of-the-art Children's Services facility was built on-site and opened in October 2006.

Family orientated programs include:

Childcare

bestchance offers Long Day Care, Sessional Care, Three and Four Year Old Kindergartens and respite care.

Parent and Child Support

Our Parent and Child Support program plays a preventative and early intervention role by providing professional family assessment, personalised in-home support and assisted playgroup programs for parents with pre-school aged children residing in the City of Monash. The program supports the needs of families with additional needs, including those isolated from extended family or community support, multiple birth and single parent families. The aim of the program is to reduce social isolation and the stresses associated with parenting young children by providing opportunities for parents to become more socially active and to develop support networks within the community.

Early Childhood Intervention

Early Childhood Intervention is a family centred program specifically for children up to six years of age who are experiencing developmental delays. Every child within our program has different needs. Acknowledging this, our Early Intervention team works in collaboration to provide a flexible, specialised and targeted program specifically tailored to address the needs and skill set of each individual child.

Cheshire School

Cheshire School provides a specialised 12 month Intervention Program to support children from prep through to grade six, who have demonstrated significant social, emotional and behavioural problems in their mainstream schools. In a supportive and caring environment, Cheshire helps children and families to identify the fundamental causes of a child's issues and to overcome the disruptive behaviours that may have become part of everyday life.

Kindergarten Cluster Management

bestchance manages twelve kindergartens in the cities of Monash and Whitehorse. This system of kindergarten cluster management was initiated by the Department of Human Services to relieve the pressure on parents running a kindergarten.

Volunteers

bestchance relies on the assistance of over 100 volunteers whose valued input enables us to provide a more extensive range of services. Our volunteers assist us in many areas including family support, fundraising and community relations, emergency relief, administration, maintenance and gardening, childcare, catering and hospitality, training, and special education.

Training

bestchance Training offers both accredited and short courses. All classes are delivered by our friendly, professional trainers in a small, supportive class environment. Career guidance and job seeking support are also available to students. In some areas, bestchance Training offers customised learning and development workshops to meet specific requirements. These courses can be presented at our training facilities or in-house at your business premises.

All bestchance programs are conducted by approximately 66 full time staff and 97 active volunteers who provide much needed assistance to thousands of children and families every year.
