About VACC
The Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce is the peak employer organisation representing the interests of the retail motor industry in Victoria and Tasmania. VACC provides a comprehensive range of support services and industrial advocacy to its 5000 members.
VACC was originally formed in 1918, by a group of motor garage owners from Ballarat, Geelong and Melbourne. Since that time VACC has developed 14 industry specific divisions representing areas from general engine repairers through to specialist groups like radiator repairers and farm machinery dealers.

Group Apprentice Scheme
The VACC Group Apprenticeship Scheme currently employs over 230 apprentices and trainees working within the retail automotive sector across Tasmania and Victoria. Since the beginning of the VACC Group Apprentice Scheme in 1983 over 500 people have qualified through the scheme, and history shows that these tradespeople are highly sought after within the automotive industry.
The VACC Group Apprenticeship Scheme (GAS) employs apprentices and trainees and then places them with suitable employers (host employers) for their on-the-job training. It is a unique arrangement in which the employer (VACC) provides work through hosting the apprentice/trainee to one or more host employers.
Apprentices and trainees employed by VACC have the security of continuing employment throughout their training period and support from a designated Field Supervisor. The Field Supervisor will monitor the performance of the apprentice as well as providing mentoring, coaching, intervening in disputes and rotating workplaces of the apprentices and trainees when necessary.
