Wellington Shire Council
The Wellington Shire is Victoria’s third largest in area, extending from Victoria’s High Country through to the Gippsland Lakes and the famous Ninety Mile Beach. Sale is only 2½ hours east of Melbourne and Wellington Shire has excellent medical facilities and great sporting, educational, and recreational opportunities. The Sale Civic Centre offices are well located a short walking distance from regional shopping, the Sale CBD and attractive waterfront walking tracks and picnic areas.
Wellington Shire Council offers a diverse range of challenging roles servicing the local community.
A vibrant and progressive organisation, Wellington Shire Council values its staff and offers flexibility alongside learning and development opportunities.
As part of Wellington's commitment to staff, a number of benefits are available.

We assist and encourage staff in balancing work, family, personal responsibilities and commitments by offering:
- flexible starting and finishing times
- job share
- part time hours
- maternity/paternity leave
- leave without pay
- childcare reimbursements
- time in lieu
- a 48/52 program in which additional leave can essentially be purchased
- phased retirement.
Employee Assistance Program
We understand that when staff members are positive about their jobs and lives they perform better at work and have a greater sense of wellbeing.
Wellington Shire Council's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is an initiative which provides staff with confidential counselling and support for work and personal issues. It involves a staff member speaking with a counsellor either face to face or over the telephone to assist in working through problems and gaining a greater understanding of a work or personal situation.
Quit Smoking Program
Recognising the health benefits to be gained by not smoking, Wellington Shire Council has developed a Quit Smoking program for staff. This includes offering reimbursement for Quit Smoking aids.
Training & Development
We are committed to providing training and professional development opportunities for staff, including the opportunity to act in a higher position when possible in order to develop skills and increase knowledge. A range of training, including formal study assistance for tertiary study, is also available.
Equal Employment Opportunity
Wellington Shire Council is an Equal Opportunity employer.
